Typing Galaxy (typinggalaxy.com) is operated by its owners listed on the About page. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account data. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture. We create a username from your email and store a timezone and country if you set them.
- Typing results. For signed-in users we store each saved test: speed, accuracy, duration, per-second speed series, per-key timing and error counts, the keyboard layout and language used, the local hour of the test and the device type (desktop, tablet or mobile). We do not store the full text you typed or raw keystroke logs.
- Guest results. Guests’ results stay in the browser’s local storage and are never sent to our servers.
- Challenges, community and feedback. Challenge entries, community posts and comments, feedback and issue reports you submit, including an optional email address for guests.
- Technical data. Server logs with IP address, user agent and request URL, kept for security and rate limiting for up to 30 days.
How we use it
- To run the service: show your dashboard, streaks, achievements, certificates and leaderboards.
- To send transactional email: a welcome message, challenge openings and results, streak reminders and a weekly digest. Each type can be turned off in Dashboard, Settings.
- To generate aggregate statistics (for example average speed by country) that never identify you.
- To prevent abuse, such as fake leaderboard entries.
Cookies
We use one strictly necessary session cookie for sign-in and browser local storage for your test settings and theme. We do not use advertising cookies. If analytics is enabled in the future it will be described here and in the Cookie Policy.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data. Processors we rely on: Google (sign-in), Neon (database hosting in the United States), Vercel (hosting and edge network), Resend (email delivery), Cloudinary (image storage) and Anthropic or OpenAI (generating practice text; no personal data is sent to them). Public profiles and leaderboards show your display name, username, country and results only if you set your profile to public.
Your rights
You can view and export your history from the dashboard, edit your profile, make it private, and delete your account and all associated data from Dashboard, Settings. Residents of the EEA, UK, California and India have additional rights to access, correct, delete and port data, and to object to processing; email the address on the Contact page to exercise them.
Children
Accounts are for users aged 13 and over (or the age of digital consent where you live). Children can use every test and lesson as a guest without an account; guest data stays on the device.
Retention and security
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Email logs are kept for 90 days. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers; access is limited to the site owners.
Changes
We will post changes here with a new date. Material changes are announced on the site.
