Number Typing Test
Words with numbers mixed in, so the number row gets real practice. Data-entry roles and exam passages with dates, prices and statistics all need this.
Frequently asked questions
- Which fingers type the numbers?
- Use the same finger as the letter below each number: left pinky for 1, ring for 2, middle for 3, index for 4 and 5; right index for 6 and 7, middle for 8, ring for 9, pinky for 0. Return to the home row after each reach.
- Should I use the numpad instead?
- For long numeric entry, yes; a 10-key pad is faster once learned. For mixed text, the number row is essential. We have a dedicated 10-key test for the numpad.
- How is accuracy on numbers scored?
- The same as letters: each digit is a character. Missed or wrong digits lower accuracy and net WPM, and the key heatmap shows which digits you miss most.
